Mowgli is back from the jungle for a brand new adventure
Kids are clueless. Kids are curious. Kids are indefatigable. Kids are vulnerable. They are not afraid to ask. They are not afraid to fail. When you look at the world with this kids lens, there is so much to learn, there is so much to explore and there are so many things to wonder about. We at BulBul Apps wanted to look around our world, with the kid lens on and discover stories for kids. We wanted to tell those stories in an interactive way on smartphones and iPads, with characters that everyday kid can identify with. I personally looked around for characters that reflected these qualities. Shockingly and surprisingly what I found was a debris of super heroes and a laddoo eating gang.So I took it upon myself. After, ‘I dont know how many’, brainstorming sessions later, I found one. Mowgli. Mowgli made perfect sense to me. He is down to earth, friendly and very approachable. When I looked at my world with ‘Mowgli lens’ on, I found so many wonderful things that I havent stopped and asked about. That I havent put my finger into yet. We took it from there and with some creative liberty and added Bulbul as Mowglis best friend and Wisdom tree as wise man who answers all his questions. (More about them later) I turned to artist Aida Sofia Barba Flores who I felt can do justice to Mowgli. We have had many discussions on this. Mowgli is not a super hero. He is from the Jungles of India. He is innocent, curious and is not afraid to ask or to fail. Just like your kid or my kid.
Here are the initial versions
